What you'll learn
t the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
Apply WHO's obesity-care framework by describing obesity as a chronic, relapsing condition and outlining where GLP-1 therapies fit within comprehensive, lifelong, person-centered management (including diet, activity, and ongoing professional support).
Identify appropriate adult candidates for GLP-1 pharmacotherapy by using WHO'S obesity definition (BMI ≥ 30) and recognizing key populations excluded/not covered in the WHO recommendation set (e.g., pregnancy). 3. Develop a safety and monitoring plan for patients receiving GLP-1 therapies by anticipating common GI adverse effects and counseling on warning signs of serious complications that require evaluation (e.g., pancreatitis, biliary disease, bowel obstruction/gastroparesis), including when to pause/escalate care.
Deliver patient-centered counseling that sets realistic expectations for long- term treatment (≥ 6 months), reinforces pairing medication with structured behavioral interventions, and uses shared decision-making to address adherence, discontinuation concerns, and access/equity barriers.
Webinar description

I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
