Illinois Occupational Therapist Standard Renewal Requirements: Illinois occupational therapists must renew their licenses biennially by December 31 of odd-numbered years with 24 contact hours of continuing education relevant to occupational therapy practice. The required CE includes specific mandatory topics: 1 hour in ethics, 1 hour in sexual harassment prevention, 1 hour in implicit bias awareness each renewal cycle, and additional cultural competency and Alzheimer’s disease/dementia care training on multi-year cycles. There is no minimum live or in-person requirement.
