Renewal Requirements

Next Renewal Date:Biennial; licenses expire on the last day of February of even-numbered years. The next deadline is February 28, 2026.

Required Courses:

At least 1 hour in opioid prescribing training per renewal period.

First-time renewal: If licensed within one year of the renewal date, no CE is required for the first renewal. If licensed outside of one year of the renewal date, 15 hours of Board-approved CE are required for the first renewal period.

Certification alternative: Dentists must attest to completion of CE requirements at renewal and retain documentation for Board audit.

Immunization practice: No information found on this requirement from the state board site.

Sedation: Dentists must obtain a Board-issued anesthesia or sedation permit to administer minimal, moderate, or deep sedation/general anesthesia. Permit holders must complete 17 hours of sedation/anesthesia-specific CE every five years, which may count toward general CE requirements.

Dispensing: Dentists must maintain records of ordering, dispensing, and administering controlled substances in compliance with state rules.
