Essential Vitamin Therapy- The Legacy of Casimir Funk - Live Webinar April 1, 2025 8PM ET

Learn about the therapeutic role of vitamins, the impact of drug-induced nutrient depletion, and the vital role of pharmacists in supplementation, building on Casimir Funk’s legacy of “vital amines.”

About this webinar

By discussing the therapeutic use of these vitamins and the ever-expanding information for their utilization. It is a little over 110 years ago that Casimir Funk elucidated the need for “vital amines” that were isolated from the foods we eat. Vitamin supplementation in America for the most part, like most everything in America is done to excess! Many prescription products are known to cause vitamin depletion, and hence the need for supplementation. The pharmacist is the best choice for assisting with nutrient depletions caused by drug therapy.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

Examine the regulations related to the labeling, marketing, and oversight of vitamins.

Identify all water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins along with their associated deficiency conditions.

Determine the depletion of vitamins that can result from the use of prescription drugs.

Explain the need for vitamin supplementation in particular groups, such as those dealing with alcoholism, acid suppression, and those who have undergone bariatric surgery.
