Standard Renewal Requirements
Every Vermont pharmacist must complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years to satisfy license renewal. Vermont pharmacist licenses renew on a fixed statewide date, July 31 of every odd-numbered year, for every pharmacist regardless of when they were originally licensed. Vermont sets no live-instruction minimum: under H.305, online continuing education is treated as equivalent to live instruction, so all 30 hours may be completed online through an accredited package like Vermont Pharmacist CE Package . Vermont requires that CE courses be approved by ACPE, the American Medical Association as a Category 1 course, the Board, or a Board-designated entity.

Conditional Renewal Requirements
A pharmacist who holds a DEA number, or has a DEA application pending, must complete at least 2 hours of continuing education on controlled-substance abuse, diversion, storage, VPMS use, risk assessment, opioid alternatives, tapering, or opioid-related law, counted within the standard 30-hour total rather than in addition to it. Vermont Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rules, Rule 6-1(b)(1)
A pharmacist who engages in sterile or hazardous compounding, or who serves as a Designated Person under USP <797>/<800>, must complete at least 3 hours of continuing education on sterile or hazardous compounding, counted within the standard 30-hour total. Vermont Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rules, Rule 6-1(b)(2)
