Tennessee Dental Hygienist Standard Renewal Requirements: Tennessee dental hygienists must renew their licenses every two years, completing 30 hours of Board-approved continuing education within the renewal cycle. Of these, no more than 15 hours can be earned through online or home study formats, with at least half completed through live or interactive courses. A minimum of 2 hours must focus on chemical dependency education. Hygienists also must maintain current CPR certification and pass a jurisprudence exam as part of the renewal process. The renewal cycle aligns with the biennial period from January 1 of odd years to December 31 of even years Tennessee Board of Dentistry Continuing Education .
