North Carolina Physician Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Physician Assistants in North Carolina must renew their licenses annually by their birthday. They must complete 50 hours of NCCPA Category I continuing medical education every two years, with an alternative of 100 hours if not NCCPA certified or recently graduated. CME proof must be available for board inspection but is not required to be submitted annually if certifying or recently graduated. Failure to renew within 30 days leads to license inactivity. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
