Additional information

How many CE hours do New Hampshire physicians need?

New Hampshire physicians need 100 hours of CME every two years, including at least 40 Category I hours and no more than 60 Category II hours. MDs and DOs are licensed by the same Board of Medicine (N.H. Code Admin. R. Med 402.01(a); RSA 329:16-g ).

Physician licenses renew every two years on the anniversary of the license issuance date. OPLC must send a renewal notice at least two months before expiration ( RSA 329:16-a ; RSA 310:8 ; OPLC — Frequently Asked Questions ).

Which CE topics are required for New Hampshire physicians?

A physician who is registered with New Hampshire's controlled drug prescription health and safety program and holds a DEA registration number must complete 3 contact hours of free, Board-approved CME on pain management and addiction disorder as a condition of both initial licensure and every renewal ( RSA 318-B:41, VI ).

Physicians holding a DEA registration must also complete a one-time 8-hour DEA MATE Training on Opioid or Substance Use Disorder, per the federal MATE Act — a federal requirement, not a New Hampshire Board mandate ( DEA Diversion Control Division — MATE Act Training FAQ ).

Do newly licensed New Hampshire physicians need CE for their first renewal?

Yes. The standard 100-hour requirement applies from a physician's first renewal, the same as every renewal after it, since the CME requirement is tied to each biennial renewal rather than to a calendar year ( RSA 329:16-g ).

A newly DEA-registered physician also owes the one-time federal MATE training according to their DEA registration schedule, independently of their New Hampshire license renewal cycle ( DEA Diversion Control Division — MATE Act Training FAQ ).

Does the New Hampshire Board of Medicine audit CE records?

Yes. Physicians must submit a continuing medical education report with course certificates at each biennial renewal, using a form approved by the Board ( RSA 329:16-g ), and the Board of Medicine now tracks all continuing education for its licensees through the third-party platform CE Broker ( New Hampshire Board of Medicine ).

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions related to course packages

What's the benefit of buying a package over individual courses?
So much! Firstly, you'll save a ton of money by bundling your courses together rather than purchasing them individually. Also, we take the guesswork out of it so that you don't need to scour your board's outdated website to figure out which courses you need to take this year – we've already done that for you, and now you can just focus on learning.
Do I need to take all of the courses included in a package to receive credit?
Nope! You're welcome to purchase a package and if you don't need all of them, you can pick and choose which ones you want to take. PRO TIP: if you don't need all of the courses included in the package for this renewal, you can just leave them in your account and take them next time around.
Can I try out a package?
You are more than welcome to sign up for a package to see if it's the right fit for you. If for any reason it is not, you can request to cancel at any time and are welcome to a refund. The only caveat is that you will still be charged for any courses you complete, for which you've already received credit in the form of a certificate of completion and/or reporting to at least 1 board.
If I want a package, do I have to sign up for the auto-renewing subscription
By default, our system will set up the auto-renewing function upon your sign up, however, with just a few clicks you can disable this under your user settings.
