First-time renewal: Newly licensed Idaho dentists must still report the full 30 CE hours if their first renewal falls at the end of a biennial period; the Board does not publish any prorated reduction.
Certification alternative: The rules do not offer specialty-board certification as a substitute for the 30 hour CE requirement.
Immunization practice: Maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required for all practicing licensees. adminrules.idaho.gov
Sedation: Dentists with moderate-sedation or GA permits must renew those permits every 5 years and submit 25 sedation CE hours, which may include medical-/office-emergency training. adminrules.idaho.gov
Dispensing / prescribing: While no opioid-specific CE is mandated, the Board “recommends” ongoing education in safe opioid prescribing and PDMP use. Idaho Department of Labor

I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me.
