Florida Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Florida Registered Nurses must renew their licenses every two years, with deadlines typically on April 30 or July 31. RNs are required to complete 24 hours of approved CE, covering required topics such as medical errors , laws and rules , impairment in the workplace , and human trafficking , plus a one-time HIV/AIDS course before the first renewal. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me.
