Florida Licensed Practical Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: Florida Licensed Practical Nurses must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years to renew their license, with renewals due July 31 of odd-numbered years. Mandatory CE includes courses in medical errors , laws and rules , human trafficking , impairment in the workplace , and domestic violence (the latter every third renewal). The Florida Board of Nursing does not allow national certification or experience to substitute for the official CE hour and content requirements ( Florida Board of Nursing ).
