Additional information
  • Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in Florida must renew their certification biennially during their birth month by completing 24 hours of in-service training relevant to their role. This training is typically conducted in supervised or live settings, although no strict minimum live hour requirement is detailed. There are no specified elective versus mandatory topic hours, but training generally covers topics pertinent to patient care and safety. Renewal details are monitored by the Florida Department of Health and information is available on the Florida health licensing pages here and through state regulatory sources here .

---

  • First-time renewal: No specific waiver or reduction found; CNAs must complete 24 hours of in-service training each biennium for renewal. Renewal

---

  • Documentation & audit: CNAs must maintain documentation of training to present upon request; audits may be conducted. Renewal

I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
