Alabama Pharmacist Standard Renewal Requirements - Pharmacists in Alabama must renew their licenses every two years, with the next cycle ending December 31, 2026. They are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education per biennium, including at least 6 live hours and 24 general hours. Specific mandates apply for immunization and sterile compounding CE.

First-time renewal: Pharmacists licensed for less than 1 year require no CE; those licensed for 1 full calendar year need only 15 total hours ( with 3 live hours ) for first renewal.

Immunization practice & CPR: Pharmacists who immunize must maintain a current CPR certificate and complete a minimum of 2 hours of board-approved immunizatio n-related CE each renewal cycle.

Sterile or non-sterile compounding: Pharmacists registered to perform sterile compounding must complete 2 hours of board-approved CE in parenteral/sterile compounding per cycle. Advanced training (additional 4 hours) required for non-sterile to sterile compounding. Initial and renewal requirements also apply to nuclear pharmacy (2 hours CE per cycle).
