District of Columbia Optometrist Standard Renewal Requirements: Optometrists in the District of Columbia must renew their licenses every two years by March 31 of odd-numbered years, completing 38 total CE hours. At least 4 hours must address public health priorities, including 2 hours specifically focused on LGBTQ+ cultural competence and appropriate clinical treatment. For the 2024 renewal cycle, all CE hours may be completed online, both synchronously (live) or asynchronously, offering flexibility in delivery.
