Diabetes Update: Where We Are With GLP-1 Receptor Agonists and SGLT2 Inhibitors
Learn about the latest advancements in managing type 2 diabetes. Explore new classes of medications and their place in therapy. Stay updated with clinical trial data and guidelines.
About this course
Medications used to manage type 2 diabetes continue to evolve. In the last 5 years we have seen new classes discovered, existing classes expanded, and diabetes management guidelines realigned to incorporate these changes. In addition, while there has been an expansion in product selection, the amount of clinical trial data has been overwhelming as each company works to delineate their products from the increasing number of options to manage adults with diabetes. Two examples of this are the GLP-1 agonists and SGLT2i class where, in the past year, we have seen significant updates with indications, side effects, and recommendations for each medication’s place in therapy. This presentation is designed to bring all clinical trial data concerning the newer diabetes medications together for one review. While the discussion will not center on diabetes management it will focus on tailoring therapy to the diabetic patient’s individualized needs and highlight the ADA and American Endocrine Society guidelines.
