As the interpersonal demands of pharmacy practice continue to increase, pharmacists need to better understand themselves and the way they are perceived by others in interpersonal interactions. Emotional intelligence theories provide an important perspective for self-reflection and personal development, as well as a vocabulary for explaining interpersonal differences.

This self-paced course is available online through any device with internet access. There are unlimited test attempts and no time limit for completion.

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of emotional intelligence to professional practice, human resource management, and day-to-day life

Faculty Information

Zubin AustinZubin Austin, BScPhm, MBA, MISc, PhD, FCAHS is Professor and Koffler Research Chair at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation – Temerty School of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada. His research focuses on the professional and personal development of the health workforce. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and authored 4 reference textbooks, including Research Methods in Pharmacy Practice (2018) and Communication in Interprofessional Care: Theory and Applications (2020). In 2017, in recognition of the impact of his research, he was installed as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of the Health Sciences, one of the highest honours for health researchers in Canada. He has no actual or potential conflicts of interest to disclose.
