
How Can We Help? The Role of Pharmacy Professionals in Human Trafficking – 2 CE

Activity Overview
This two-hour course is designed to provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with the tools they need to identify and assist victims of human trafficking. These silent victims frequently seek health care services and are usually accompanied by their trafficker who controls every move they make. This course will cover the signs that a victim of human trafficking may exhibit and the types of interventions that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can implement that will keep the individual safe. This is a self-directed educational course that participants can complete from the comfort of their computer or mobile device.
This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Pharmacist Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:
- Define human trafficking, its many forms and venues, and its prevalence in the U.S.
- Identify risk factors that may contribute to an individual becoming a victim of human trafficking and common tactics traffickers use to recruit victims.
- Identify the psychological, social, and physical impact of human trafficking on victims.
- Identify the role of pharmacists in identifying potential victims of human trafficking and in the intervention and reporting of suspected cases.
- Recall current laws for human trafficking and list strategies for preventing and increasing awareness of human trafficking.
