Required Courses:
- 2 hours on infection control and/or occupational hazards; oral effects of tobacco use; or oral effects of substance abuse
- 3 hours in drug diversion training, best practice Prescribing of Controlled Substances Training & Training on Prescribing and Administration of an Opioid Antagonist for prescribers
- A maximum of 28 hours may be completed online
West Virginia Dental Hygienist
Total Hours Required:
20 hours
Next Renewal Date:
February 1, 2022 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 18 general hours
- 2 hours on infection control and/or occupational hazards; oral effects of tobacco use; or oral effects of substance abuse
- A maximum of 16 hours may be completed online
Additional Information
- 100% of the required CEs for the current period may be completed online.
- Each applicant upon initial licensure shall complete at least 3 hours of continuing education regarding drug diversion training and best practice prescribing of controlled substances training and training on prescribing and administration of an opioid antagonist within one year of receiving his or her initial license from the Board.
- A current certification for a comprehensive basic life support course is also needed.
