Why a live CE schedule is worth more than the headline credit hours
The single biggest reason healthcare professionals seek out live CE specifically — and the reason this part of AchieveCE’s catalog exists separately from our on-demand library — is that several state boards require it. A nurse renewing in Florida needs two hours of live participation each cycle. Texas pharmacists, certain New York and California specialties, and a handful of dental and counseling boards have similar live-minimum rules buried inside their renewal regulations. Most licensees discover this in the last few weeks before their renewal deadline, when an on-demand-only library suddenly isn’t enough. A live schedule that’s planned around the state-specific rules our state and profession content already documents means you can match every required hour to a session that satisfies it, in the same dashboard where you complete the rest of your renewal.
How a session actually runs
AchieveCE live webinars use Zoom Webinar mode rather than Zoom Meeting mode, which means attendees are listen-only by default: your camera is off, your microphone is off, and other attendees can’t see you. You participate through a text Q&A panel during the presentation and through voice questions during dedicated Q&A windows if you choose. Live captioning is enabled by default. Most sessions are 60 or 90 minutes, with the faculty presenting for the first three quarters and Q&A in the final quarter. Attendance is tracked automatically based on time in the session — there’s no clicking to confirm presence or other interruptions to the learning. If your connection drops briefly, you stay enrolled.
What happens to the recording
Every live session is recorded. The recording becomes available as on-demand CE the following day — same content, separate certificate, separate credit. This matters in two ways. First, if you registered for a live session but couldn’t attend, the on-demand version of the same session is automatically added to your dashboard at no extra cost on most paid sessions, so you don’t lose the content. Second, if you attended live and want to revisit a topic later, the recording lives in your account permanently and can be referenced (without re-earning credit) anytime.
The economics of free live CE
A meaningful share of AchieveCE’s live schedule is free — typically four to eight sessions per month across professions. Free doesn’t mean low effort or thin content. The economics work because pharmaceutical, medical-device, and clinical-services companies underwrite the development cost of educational content that’s accurate, balanced, and accredited at the same standards as our paid catalog. The sponsoring organization is named on every event page along with their relationship to the topic. We don’t take sponsorship from organizations that would compromise editorial independence, and we don’t soften disclosures: if a session about an opioid stewardship program is supported by a pharmaceutical company that makes one of the medications discussed, that company is listed on the registration page, not just buried in slide-deck footers.
Where live CE fits relative to in-person conferences and subscription services
Two adjacent options compete for licensee attention. In-person conferences (state association meetings, ASHP/APhA midyears, ADA SmileCon, ANCC’s annual conference) earn live CE and add face-to-face networking, but require travel days and conference fees that often exceed a full renewal package on their own. Subscription CE services bundle unlimited access for one annual fee but typically gate live events behind premium tiers and require ongoing payment for credentials a single licensee may only need biennially. AchieveCE’s model sits between those two: pay only for the live and on-demand content you need for the renewal cycle you’re currently in, with free sessions available regardless of whether you’ve bought anything.
A single account for multiple professions
Many AchieveCE customers hold more than one credential — a pharmacist who also has an immunization endorsement, a nurse practitioner who needs both ANCC and ACCME credits, a dental hygienist with a separate local-anesthesia or laser certification. One AchieveCE account tracks all credentials, reports each credit to the right service automatically, and prevents the common problem of attending a session that satisfies one of your renewals but not all of them. Your dashboard shows where every renewal stands at any time. If you’re not ready to register for a live session today, scroll up to the schedule and bookmark this page — new live webinars are added every week, and the email digest at the bottom of this page sends a monthly recap plus alerts for free sessions in the professions you select.
