Wisconsin Dentist Standard Renewal Requirements: Dentists in Wisconsin must renew their licenses every two years by October 1 of odd-numbered years, completing 30 credit hours of continuing education in the preceding two-year cycle. There is no specified minimum for live or in-person CE hours, and courses may cover topics relevant to the practice of dentistry or medicine. Mandatory requirements include current CPR proficiency including AED use and opioid prescribing education. Dentists newly licensed are exempt from CE requirements for their first renewal period. Documentation of continuing education is required and must be maintained for at least six years. These regulations are stipulated by the Wisconsin Dentistry Examining Board and available through the Department of Safety and Professional Services source .
