West Virginia Registered Nurse Standard Renewal Requirements: West Virginia RNs must renew their licenses every two years by June 30 of even-numbered years. Nurses are required to complete 12 contact hours of continuing education with a Board-approved provider for each renewal cycle. Newly-licensed RNs must also complete a one-time, 3-hour course in drug diversion and safe prescribing within the first year. There are no ongoing mandatory topic requirements after this initial course wvrnboard.wv.gov
