South Carolina Dental Hygienist Standard Renewal Requirements: South Carolina dental hygienists must complete 14 hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years, with at least half of those hours completed through live or interactive courses. Included in the CE hours required, 2 must be focused on sterilization and infection control . A valid CPR certification at Level II or higher is mandatory and can be counted towards CE hours. Advanced life support certification is required for those holding sedation permits. Licenses must be renewed by December 31 of even-numbered years to avoid late fees South Carolina Board of Dentistry .
