Oregon Physician Assistant Standard Renewal Requirements: Physician Assistants in Oregon must renew their licenses every two years by December 31 of even years, requiring 60 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 CME every two years. CME credits must be relevant to their area of practice, and at least one hour of pain management education is mandatory each renewal cycle with content provided by approved Oregon Pain Guidance CME providers. There is no mandated minimum for live or in-person coursework as online options are acceptable. Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs are acceptable alternatives for CME compliance. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me.
