North Carolina Dental Hygienist Standard Renewal Requirements: Dental hygienists in North Carolina must complete 6 continuing education hours annually before December 31, all of which can be done via self-study with post-test, and the coursework must be directly related to clinical patient care. There is no live or in-person minimum, but those authorized to administer local anesthesia must complete a specific 2-hour course on technique and emergencies every year.
