Kentucky Dentist Standard Renewal Requirements: Kentucky dentists renew every two years and must complete 30 CE hours by the end of each cycle, which closes December 31 of odd years. At least 10 hours must be live interactive, and 3 hours must cover KASPER, pain management, or addiction disorders; only 10 hours may come from business/association/charitable categories. Dentists with sedation permits must also complete ≥4 classroom hours in sedation/anesthesia and maintain ACLS/PALS as required. See 201 KAR 8:533 (dentist licensure/CE) and 201 KAR 8:550 (anesthesia & sedation). Legislative Research Commission+1

General / Elective Hours: Up to 10 hours may come from: charitable clinical dentistry, business operations/best practices, or dental association/society business meetings. Remaining hours must be from other acceptable content areas (e.g., infection control; clinical/technological subjects; patient safety). Legislative Research Commission
---
First-time renewal: If you graduated in the first year of the biennium or received a new/reinstated license in the second year, you need half (15) of the hours; if you graduated in the second year, no CE is required for that period. Legislative Research Commission
---
Immunization practice: The Board’s Advisory Opinion 21-01 recognizes that vaccinations fall within the definition of dentistry, allowing dentists to administer vaccines in Kentucky (see Board advisory opinions page). dentistry.ky.gov+1
---
Sedation: To renew a sedation/anesthesia permit, a dentist must complete ≥4 hours of sedation/anesthesia CE in a classroom setting during the two-year permit term and maintain ACLS/PALS as applicable. Legislative Research Commission
---
Dispensing: Dentists may prescribe/dispense non-controlled drugs within scope; to prescribe controlled substances they must have DEA registration and use KASPER. Dispensing controlled substances for take-home use is prohibited; additional prescribing safeguards (e.g., consent, three-day acute pain supply limit) apply. Legislative Research Commission+1

I appreciate the convenience of the course being online and accessible through my phone and that it directly reports to CEBroker to support mandated education requirements.
I really loved this information. I was hospitalized last year for almost a month and I noticed multiple medical errors (not being hooked up to my IV multiple times, given wrong medication which caused my sodium to be very low, etc.) which lengthened my stay. I can now define those exact errors and better understand what happened to me. I hate that these medical errors are so common and I appreciate how well laid out your breakdown and categorization of them was.
