6 hours gerontology/dementia care - only for nurse practitioners whose primary-care panels include ≥25 % patients aged 65+ (effective Jan 1, 2025; counts within the 30 hours)
California RN Standard Renewal Requirements: California Registered Nurses must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years with courses taken through a BRN-approved provider to renew and maintain active licensure. Newly licensed RNs must complete a one-time, one-hour implicit bias course within two years of initial licensure; this requirement can be counted toward the 30-hour total.
