Alabama Dentist Standard Renewal Requirements: Alabama dentists must complete 20 CE hours each year, with at least 10 delivered in-person, by 1 October to renew their license. Required subjects include annual training in Infectious Disease Control , ethical considerations , and Prescribing Controlled Substances , plus current CPR/BLS (2–4 live hours every two years); dentists holding sedation permits need two additional hours in sedation/anesthesia each year. Elective hours can cover clinical topics, but the Board caps risk-management content at four hours and practice-management at three.
