  • Alabama APRN Standard Renewal Requirements: Alabama Advanced Practice Registered Nurses must renew their license every two years, concurrent with the RN renewal cycle in even-numbered years, by accruing a total of 24 contact hours of continuing education. Of these, at least 6 hours must be in pharmacology, with additional courses required for those with prescriptive authority or controlled substance certificates. All hours may be completed online, and first-time renewals require a one-time 4-hour course from the Board regarding the Nurse Practice Act and professional conduct (Alabama Board of Nursing Renewal) .
