**For the April 1, 2024 - March 31, 2026, biennial renewal period, all of the CME required may be obtained by completion of courses offered in a distance-learning format.

  • Florida Osteopathic Physician Standard Renewal Requirements: Florida osteopathic physicians must renew their licenses biennially by March 31 of even-numbered years, completing 40 total hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME). The CME includes mandatory training in Prevention of Medical Errors (2 hours), Professional Medical Ethics & Florida Laws (1 hour), Prescribing Controlled Substances (2 hours, if applicable), and Domestic Violence training (2 hours every third renewal). Additionally, first-time renewals require 1 hour of HIV/AIDS education. CME may be fulfilled through livestream, interactive online, or in-person courses, reported via CE Broker. Renewal

    • Florida explicitly accepts AOA CME credits.

    • At least 20 of the 40 required CME hours must be AOA Category 1-A.
