Total Hours Required:
50 hours
Next Renewal Date:
Based on birth month – Every 2 years
Required Courses:
- A minimum of 30 fundamental hours are required (content directly related to dentistry):
- Core subjects (mandatory, 2 different core subject areas required per biennial cycle)
- Infection control
- A maximum of 20 elective hours can be completed (content directly or indirectly related to dentistry)
- All dentists who prescribe controlled substances must obtain two (2) hours of CE on best practices in prescribing opioids and controlled substances. Training must be completed by January 1, 2023.
Minnesota Dental Hygienist

25 hours

Based on birth month – Every 2 years
Required Courses:
- A minimum of 15 fundamental hours are required (content directly related to dentistry):
- Core subjects (mandatory, 2 different core subject areas required per biennial cycle)
- Infection control
- A maximum of 10 elective hours can be completed (content directly or indirectly related to dentistry)
Minnesota Registered Dental Assistant

25 hours
