Ohio Safety and Sanitation: Infection Control for Estheticians

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the Ohio Administrative Code regulations regarding safety, sanitation, and infection control in esthetics practice.

2. Recognize potential safety and sanitation hazards specific to facial treatments, waxing, and other esthetic services provided in an esthetics practice.

3. Describe the standards for practicing esthetics safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.

4. Outline the workplace safety rights provided to estheticians by the U.S. Department of Labor, including protection from hazards and unsafe working conditions.

5. Examine the roles of the CDC, OSHA, FDA, and EPA in regulating safety practices within Ohio’s esthetics industry.

6. Apply techniques for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing esthetics tools and equipment in accordance with Standard and Universal Precautions.

7. Determine when to disinfect, sanitize, sterilize, or discard tools and equipment used in facials, waxing, and other esthetic services.

8. Explain the procedures for Standard and Universal Precautions and their application to safe and hygienic esthetics practices.
