Infection Control and Safety for Barber Professionals

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the Ohio Administrative Code regulations regarding safety, sanitation, and infection control in barbershops.

2. Recognize potential safety and sanitation hazards specific to barbering practices.

3. Describe the standards for practicing barbering safely and effectively in a barbershop environment.

4. Outline the workplace safety rights provided to barbers by the U.S. Department of Labor.

5. Examine the roles of the CDC, OSHA, FDA, and EPA in regulating safety practices within Ohio's barbering industry.

6. Apply techniques for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing barber tools and equipment in accordance with Standard and Universal Precautions.

7. Determine when to disinfect, sanitize, sterilize, or discard tools and equipment used in barber services.

8. Explain the procedures for Standard and Universal Precautions and their application to safe and hygienic barbering practices.

This course equips Ohio barbers with essential knowledge of safety, sanitation, and infection control standards mandated by the Ohio Board of Cosmetology.
