Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Explain why proper sanitation and infection control practices are essential in the salon setting. 
  2. Compare and contrast between bacteria and viruses, their modes of transportation, and identify the various types of microorganisms found within a salon shop setting.  
  3. Compare and contrast the difference between sanitizers, disinfectants, and sterilizers while explaining antibacterial agents. 
  4. Describe infection control responsibilities according to universal sanitation precautions and within the practice of cosmetology and according to OSHA 
  5. Identify workplace hazards facing salon professionals. 
  6. Recall the responsibilities of the employer and the rights of the employees under OSHA guidelines.
