Total Hours Required:
40 hours
Next Renewal Date:
December 31, 2023 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 38 general hours
- A minimum of 2 hours in opioid prescribing (The requirement that a licensee obtain a minimum of two hours of opioid prescribing education shall cease to exist for the biennium beginning January 1, 2024)
- A maximum of 6 hours of non-clinical dental practice related continuing education can be completed.
Ohio Dental Hygienist
Total Hours Required:
24 hours
Next Renewal Date:
December 31, 2023 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 22 general hours
- A minimum of 2 hours in opioid prescribing (The requirement that a licensee obtain a minimum of two hours of opioid prescribing education shall cease to exist for the biennium beginning January 1, 2024)
- A maximum of 6 hours of non-clinical dental practice related continuing education can only be completed.
Ohio Registered Dental Assistant
Total Hours Required:
2 hours
Next Renewal Date:
December 31, 2022 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 2 hours in radiation technology for dental assistant radiographer
- No CE required for EXPANDED FUNCTION DENTAL AUXILIARY REGISTRATION
Additional Information
- All hours may be completed online.
- Licensees who have completed their initial dental doctoral education or dental hygiene undergraduate education within their first registration and licensees who are enrolled as students in a full-time dental or dental hygiene program in an accredited educational institution are exempt from continuing education requirements.
