Additional Information

  • A maximum of 17 hours may be completed online for Maryland Dentist and Dental Hygienist
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification must be continuously maintained and must not expire. The CPR course does not count toward the required 30 hours.
  • Dentists, dental hygienists, and dental radiation technologists, are required to complete an Implicit Bias Training Program approved by the Cultural and Linguistic Health Care Professional Competency Program within the Maryland Department of Health. Because this
    requirement becomes effective as of April 1, 2022, it affects dentists and dental hygienists who wish to renew their license beginning in 2022, and dental radiation technologists who wish to renew their certificates in 2023. This requirement applies only to the first renewal cycle after April 1, 2022.
  • A licensee may earn a combined total of up to four (4) continuing education hours for the following Board-approved courses: 1) cultural and linguistic competency, health disparities, and health literacy; and 2) military culture.
