Louisiana Registered Nurse

Total Hours Required:

30 hours

Next Renewal Date:

December 31, 2022

Required Courses:

  • 30 General Hours or;

5 contact hours – Practiced nursing 1600 hours (or more) within the calendar year.

10 contact hours – Practiced nursing at least 160 hours, but less than 1600 hours during the calendar year.

15 contact hours – Practiced nursing for less than 160 hours during the calendar year.

Louisiana Licensed Practical Nurse

CE Requirment:

There is no CE requirement for Louisiana LPNs.

Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Total Hours Required:

30 hours

Required Courses:

30 General Hours or;

APRNs who are nationally board certified meet the provisions for RN renewal by holding an approved certification And/or if the practice requirement of a minimum of 300 practice hours annually as verified by the employer was met, then CEs are not required by LSBN for renewal

    • Louisiana RN’s If the practice requirement of a minimum of 900 practice hours during the two-year licensure period as verified by the employer was met, then CEs are not required by LSBN for renewal.
    • All continuing education (CE) hours must be at the advanced level (advanced assessment, diagnosis and management of conditions, pharmacology, etc.) and directly related to the full scope of the advanced practice role and population focus for which commensurate APRN licensure has been granted.
