Florida Osteopathic Area Critical Need Standard Renewal Requirements: Osteopathic physicians holding an Area of Critical Need certification in Florida must renew their licenses every two years by March 31 of even-numbered years, completing 40 total CME hours. This includes mandatory CME on Prevention of Medical Errors, Professional Medical Ethics & Florida Laws, Controlled Substances prescribing (if applicable), Domestic Violence (every third renewal), and HIV/AIDS for the first renewal. Up to 5 hours of CME credit may be obtained by pro bono service in underserved areas. CME can be earned through various formats including livestream, interactive online, or in-person courses as approved by the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
