AchieveCE is a nationally approved Program Approval for Continuing Education (PACE) Provider for FAGD/MAGD credit by the Academy of General Dentistry (Provider ID #386503). It is also accredited by the Florida Board of Dentistry (Provider #50-20641) and Dental Board of California (Provider #RP5822).

Total Hours Required:
30 hours
Next Renewal Date:
December 31, 2021 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 22 general hours
- 2 hours in infection control
- 1 hour in ethics
- 2 hours in cultural competency or specialized clinical training focusing on patients/clients who identify as LGBTQ
- 3 hours in public health priorities ( please see list in the Additional Information section below)
- 2 hours in abuse and misuse of controlled substance, and opioid prescription practices for DEA permit holders
- 2 hours in SARS-CoV-2 vaccines – may count as public health priorities (one-time requirement on or before 09/30/2021)

20 hours

Required Courses:
- 13 general hours
- 2 hours in infection control
- 1 hour in ethics
- 2 hours in cultural competency or specialized clinical training focusing on patients/clients who identify as LGBTQ

District of Columbia Dental Assistant
Total Hours Required:
10 hours
Next Renewal Date:
December 31, 2021 – every 2 years
Required Courses:
- 4 general hours
- 2 hours in basic life support (“BLS certification”)
- 2 hours on cultural competency or specialized clinical training on patients or clients who identify as LGBTQ
- 1 hour of Public Health Priorities (please see list in the Additional Information section below)
- 1 hour of Ethics
- 2 hours of Infection control
Additional Information
- The continuing education requirements may be satisfied through approved continuing education courses.
- Continuing Education is not required for 1st time renewal applicants.
- All licensees must complete 10% of the total hours required for renewal on topics designated by the Director of the DOH as a public health priority.
- Responsible opioid prescribing and effective pain management;
- Nutrition and obesity prevention;
- Identifying and reporting abuse (child and adult), neglect (child and adult), human trafficking, and domestic violence;
- Sexual health (including sexual history, discussing sexual experiences, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS, HPV vaccines, connections to cancer, latent tuberculosis, safe sex, and birth control);
- Ethics and appropriate patient interactions (including boundaries, patient privacy, and telehealth communication);
- Smoking, vaping, and tobacco (including dangers, smoking cessation, and non-smoke tobacco products);
- Preparing patients for an emergency and handling vulnerable populations in an emergency;
- Identifying impairment (physical or mental) in patients and providers (including complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act);
- Vaccinations (including legal requirements and appropriate exemptions);
- and Implicit bias, cultural competence, and Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in health care.
