About this course
In response to the pressing need for heightened awareness and effective intervention, this course offers healthcare providers and those working with the elderly in senior centers and other organizations comprehensive training on suicide prevention among the elderly. As frontline responders, healthcare providers play a pivotal role in identifying and addressing suicide risk factors in older adults. Through this course, participants will gain essential knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs, conduct risk assessments, and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of elderly patients. By equipping healthcare providers and those caring for the elderly with the tools and resources necessary to navigate the complexities of suicide prevention among the elderly, this course aims to empower them to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their older adult patients and contribute to reducing the incidence of suicide in this vulnerable population.

Instructors

Jennifer A. Cataline is a highly experienced mental health clinician with over two decades of experience. She currently works at Maryhaven in Marysville, Ohio, performing diagnostic assessments, individual counseling for mental health and substance use disorders, and facilitating anger management groups. From 2016 to 2021, she operated her private practice, Clearview Services, and supervised the Clearview Driver Intervention Program. Cataline also served as a part-time SUD clinician at the Family Resource Center in Findlay, Ohio, and taught addiction counseling theories at The University of Findlay as an adjunct faculty member. She was a Senior Clinical Manager at A Renewed Mind, overseeing program and staff development. Her early career included roles at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Wyandot Counseling Associates, and Family Resource Centers, handling diagnostic assessments and counseling. Cataline holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Heidelberg College.
