The Critical Role of Critical Care Pharmacists – 1 CE – Live Webinar on December 6, 2022 8PM ET

Activity Overview

Despite the established benefits of critical care pharmacists (CCP) as essential members of the ICU healthcare team in the delivery of patientcentered care, many critically ill adults do not receive CCP care. Critical care pharmacy practice models have been shown to help justify new CCP positions and optimally allocate existing CCP resources but important barriers to optimizing critical care clinical pharmacy
services exist.

Using a gap analysis approach, this program provides strategies for optimizing novel CCP staffing models regardless of the existing level of services at an institution and identifies potential approaches to better inform and strengthen these services in ICUs across different types of hospitals.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Review activities of critical care pharmacists that improve patient outcomes and medication safety while reducing costs
  2. Discuss current critical care pharmacy services as well as strategies to enhance those services
  3. Identify future roles of critical care pharmacists in the inpatient setting to improve medication safety and patient outcomes
