Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Name the different levels of sedation, differentiate them from one another, and translate them into practice.
  2. Associate the different levels of sedation based on their effects and choose appropriate actions as per patient scenarios.
  3. Differentiate the different routes of administration used in sedation and choose the most applicable ones for the patient.
  4. Recall the different patient physical status classifications used in sedation and anesthesiology and interpret them during patient assessment.
  5. Cite the minimum required hours of fasting before sedation based on the ingested food and choose appropriate actions as per patient scenarios.
  6. Recall the updated sedation guidelines and translate them into practice.
