The Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine in COVID – 19: What do you need to know as a health care professional? Webcast – 1 CE

Activity Overview

The two COVID-19 which have received emergency use authorization in the United States use messenger-RNA technology. This activity will provide the knowledge and updated information on the handling and administration of mRNA vaccines. It will also provide the knowledge needed for pharmacists to counsel and educate the community about mRNA vaccines. The aim is to identify approaches to overcome vaccine hesitancy related to mRNA vaccines.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define messenger RNA (mRNA)
  2. Describe the mechanism of action of COVID-19 messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines
  3. Identify the types of COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States
  4. Describe the storage and handling of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines
  5. Discuss the effectiveness and adverse effects of mRNA vaccines in COVID-19
  6. Identify approaches to allay anxiety and hesitation with vaccination
