Activity Overview

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have important roles to play when dealing with patients who have oral mucosal lesions by identifying symptoms and risk factors associated with these conditions, providing patient education, and working as part of a collaborative health care team. This course provides an overview of oral health conditions that can cause lesions and tumors. It will also outline ways you can assist the health care team in holistically caring for the patient.This course is equivalent to one contact hour. The participants may use a mobile phone, laptop, and other similar devices to access the course at their convenience.

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Recognize the clinical manifestations of various oral health conditions resulting in oral surface lesions and soft tissue enlargement
  2. Recall how oral mucosal lesions and soft tissue enlargement are evaluated, diagnosed, and treated.
  3. Identify important aspects of patient education when it comes to evaluating and treating oral lesions.

Pharmacy Technicians Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify common conditions that can result in oral mucosal lesions and soft tissue enlargement.
  2. Identify the evaluation and treatment methods used for oral mucosa lesions.
  3. Identify ways in which pharmacy technicians can provide patient education regarding oral lesions and tumors.
