Lyme is Ticking: Updates on the Management of Lyme Disease and Other Tick-Borne Infections Webcast- 1 CE

Activity Overview

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) recently published new guidelines on managing Lyme disease in 2021, the first time these guidelines have been updated since 2006. As such, there are several updates and knowledge gaps that healthcare professionals should be aware of to properly manage and prevent tick-borne infections that are rapidly increasing in the United States.

This activity reviews the epidemiology of various ticks and tick-borne infections, including Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, Powassan virus, Borrelia miyamotoi disease, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment will also be described, along with the updated Lyme Disease guidelines released by the IDSA.

Faculty Information

Wesley D. Kufel, PharmD, BCIDP, BCPS, AAHIVP is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Binghamton, NY. He is also a clinical infectious diseases pharmacist at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY, where he provides clinical services for the antimicrobial stewardship program and the infectious diseases consultation teams. He also holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
