Understanding the nuances of pharmacologic management of dyslipidemia is crucial for healthcare professionals, particularly given the limitations and challenges associated with statin therapy alone. This knowledge gap not only affects prescribing patterns but also influences the overall management of dyslipidemia, a key risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).

To bridge this educational gap, this course aims to provide an in-depth review of evidence-based literature on non-statin agents. The course discusses the specific clinical indications where non-statin medication is beneficial and explores the various pharmacologic options available for reducing LDL-C, mitigating ASCVD risk, managing severe hypertriglyceridemia, and lowering the risk of pancreatitis. Through this course, healthcare professionals will gain the tools necessary to make informed, patient-centered decisions in dyslipidemia management.

At the conclusion of this continuing education activity, the participant will be able to:

1. Summarize the mechanisms by which various pharmacological agents reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol
2. Discuss risk assessment for primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
3. Evaluate the evidence for the use of non-statin pharmacologic agents in treating dyslipidemia
4. Determine the specific indications for use of non-statin agents
